Grand River Country at a Glance
Grand River Country is situated on the southwestern arm of Ontario,
bordered by Lake Erie to the south and Lake Ontario to the west. Comprised of
cities such as Kitchener-Waterloo,
Hamilton, Guelph
and Brantford, this area contains
a diversity of landscapes, including rolling countrysides, rich farmlands and
sloping shorelines. Grand River, the largest river in Southwestern Ontario, flows
through the region and is home to a world-class fishery. The area is also rich
in varied cultures, intermixing traditional Mennonite communities with modern,
bustling cities. Mennonite culture and fare can be enjoyed at Guelph's 170-year-old
Farmer's Market.
Or experience German culture at the popular annual Oktoberfest
in Kitchener-Waterloo. Stroll along the shores of Lake Ontario in Hamilton, Canada's
"steel town". Its proximity to the U.S.
border and Niagara Falls
makes this region of Ontario a truly diverse and spectacular area of Canada.
